Mustang Musings December 7, 2009
This morning, I woke to temperatures barely reaching twenty degrees. With a nice layer of fresh snow on the ground, things are looking a lot like Christmas, but it's not the only thing hinting of the season. Just take a gander at the calendar. Aside from the usual meetings taking place throughout the month, we have some special events scheduled to celebrate this holiday season.
This Friday, we'll attend Redding City Ballet's "The Nutcracker" and then we're heading to Hometown Buffet for lunch afterward. The following week, our school's Christmas program is coming up on the 16th. Mrs. Mancino and the students have been working hard to make this wonderful, yet scaled down version of "The Nutcracker" something to remember. Please plan to attend and bring your cameras. We'll also have a special guest making an appearance later that evening.
Santa's helpers will be setting up shop at the school this month to give the students an opportunity to purchase inexpensive gifts for their loved ones. If you have some nice items to donate, please drop them by the school. We also welcome donations of gift wrap, gift bags, and even some volunteer elves to wrap presents. The starting date for this venture will be announced soon.
On December 18 and 19, our school is hosting its annual basketball tournament. This event always draws a crowd of sports enthusiasts, as well as the participation of many small schools from surrounding areas. We couldn't put this event on without the generous support from the community. If you'd like to help sponsor the tournament, please contact Joanne Barrow at the school.
This month, Manton School welcomed a new teacher for the 4th-8th grade class, Jacob Williams. As someone who is very, very close to the teacher's aide for this class, I can attest that Mr. Williams is proving to be an awesome addition to our school.
I hope you enjoyed this first installment of "Mustang Musings".
Wishing you and yours a wonderful Christmas!
Until next year,
Manton School's keeper of the calendar,
~Lady L~
