Mustang Musings ~ January 7, 2010
Happy New Year! It’s hard to believe the school year is half over. We ended the second quarter just prior to the Christmas break, got a couple of weeks of rest (the kids, anyway), and are back in the swing of things this week. It seems the rest of the year goes by super fast once the holidays are over. I just mentioned to one of the school staff that before we know it, we’ll be at Waterworks Park—our destination every spring just before the school year ends. She whole-heartedly agreed. But before we find ourselves cooling off in the lagoon, or feeling the wind in our hair as we shoot down the slides, there is much to do.
This Friday, January 18th will be our second quarter assembly at 1:00 PM. As always, parents and friends are welcome to witness our students being honored for their hard work. We will hand out certificates and prizes to those students who reached their reading goals for the quarter. Certificates will also be awarded for Perfect Attendance, Citizenship, Student of the Quarter, Honor Roll, and Principal’s List. After the assembly, the students will enjoy an afternoon of fun until they are dismissed at 3:15 PM.
Upcoming events will include the Basketball Awards Banquet, Pine Car Derby, and the annual Bluegrass Fundraiser on March 19. If you want to help with any of these events, why not consider joining the Manton School Community Club? We meet the third Thursday of each month at 6:00 pm, unless the meeting date is changed due to a conflict. Please check the school calendar to confirm the date. Yours truly, the keeper of the calendar (among other things) tries to keep the calendar up-to-date so no one misses out on all the fun.
All of us at Manton School look forward to the next two quarters of school when we will have the privilege of watching your children excel, grow in wisdom and character, and make happy memories that will last them a life-time.
Sincerely,
~ Lady L ~
